SchildiChat Desktop

DEPRECATION NOTICE: This version of SchildiChat Desktop/Web is no longer maintained, and it is recommended you look out for alternatives, such as Element Desktop or SchildiChat Revenge.
If you want to stick to it for now (e.g. until you deem SchildiChat Revenge sufficient for your usecase), it is recommended to use the latest GitHub pre-release, but expect missing features.

SchildiChat Web/Desktop is a fork of Element Web/Desktop.

The most important changes of SchildiChat compared to Element are:

Customizable room list style (compact single line, intermediate and roomy with two line preview)
Option to show direct and group chats in a combined list
Improved theming options
Message bubbles

Where can I get it?

All downloads for Desktop (old versions, Windows packages, a Linux AppImage build and a build for macOS)

Official packages

Following packages are maintained by the SchildiChat team.

Community packages

Following packages are maintained by community members, and not controlled by the SchildiChat team.

Nix (e.g. NixOS, home-manager or any Linux distro)

The packages schildichat-desktop and schildichat-desktop-wayland are available in the nixos-unstable channel or the upcoming 21.11 release.

MPR (e.g. Ubuntu, Debian, ...)

SchildiChat can be installed from the MPR:

tap install schildichat-desktop-bin # or similar

Homebrew (macOS)

brew install schildichat

Mageia (rpm package)

SchildiChat can be installed from a community repository. The package works only with Mageia 8.
